Microscopic

I don’t have enough empty space.  In my mind, I mean.  I’ve been reading through Hebrews, and I’ve been reading through Psalms for my small group, and then reading books for school, and working on my poetry manuscript.  Lately, I just don’t have the mental vacuity that typically inspires or facilitates regular blogging.  And, well, I’m just going to have to be okay with that for now.

Last night at our young adults’ gathering, we watched a video of Louie Giglio speaking on the How Great is Our God tour.  It was, by far, one of the most awe-inspiring things I’ve heard in a long time.  He talked about the universe and the planets and stars and galaxies and whoa!  Just how huge and vast everything is…wow.  And to think that God created it all is just mind-blowing.  By the end of the night, I had such mixed feelings.  I truly was captivated by the greatness and glory of God. I was amazed at the universe.  I was humbled and broken over my tendency  to make God so small and “my world” so big.  I was discouraged by how microscopic and insignificant I seem in the grand scheme of the cosmos. And I was totally ravished by the notion that God really, truly does care about me.  Little ol’ me on this tiny planet in the midst of this massive space that my little mind can’t even begin to comprehend, even on my imagination’s best of days.  Really, God, what is man that you are mindful of him?

This clip from the video was one of the most memorable parts for me:
